Pets have become part of many families and are often considered to be extended family (living, eating, and even sleeping with family members) and we in Britain definitely adore our Pets!
With a population of 66.4 million (2018) in the UK and an estimated 51 million pets living in our home across the UK, that is pretty much a ratio of almost 1:1 – a pet in every home.
Dogs (no brainer) top the list based on various websites. However cats, fish, rabbits, horses, reptiles, rodents and birds are popular as well. A leading pet insurer reported that the choice of pets is a result of current living conditions/environment of the family e.g. 61% of pet owners in fast paced-urban London own a cat, as cats are preferred for their independent nature.
